4/12/2001 - TOPINKA VISITS EASTER SEALS METROPOLITAN CHICAGO STUDENTS

Participates in 'Week of the Young Child' as Guest Storyteller

CHICAGO – Illinois State Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka this week met with more than 20 Near West Side students as part of the Guest Storyteller program hosted by Easter Seals Gilchrist-Marchman Child Development Center. After visiting with students enrolled in Head Start and Pre-Kindergarten at Easter Seals Metropolitan Chicago, Topinka read the class "Duck at the Door" by Jackie Urbanovic.

"I was more than delighted to take the time to read to our local students, and upcoming leaders," Topinka said. "Who knows, a future State Comptroller might be in that class!"

The Guest Storyteller program was held during The Week of the Young Child. Easter Seals Metropolitan Chicago invites community leaders to be guest storytellers during the week of April 11-15 to read to some of the 126 children from the community that are served through their programs.
