Sangamon County Animal Control
The Sangamon County Animal Control Center serves the residents of Sangamon County, including 26 municipalities, by providing many animal control services including rabies prevention, humane investigation and education. We have found new homes for more than 15,000 pets since the year 2000 through adoptions to the general public, shelters and rescue groups. The internet has been instrumental in helping us find homes for our animals from coast to coast.
Pets adopted from the Sangamon County Animal Control Center are spayed or neutered, vaccinated and microchipped before leaving for their new homes.

J.J. was an owner turn in on July 1st. He is a GORGEOUS solid Blue and White Domestic Shorthair who has a lot of the features of the British Shorthair breed of cat. His PURRsonality is wonderful, LOVES to be petted and loved on. Will roll over so you can rub the belly also. He is a large, sturdy cat and would be a wonderful family member. He may be 6 yrs. old but don't let that stop you..he has a lot of years left in him and is past all the crazy kitten antics. He came to us front declawed also.

Poppy was brought in as a stray the first week of June. He has very unique markings and his white was still very white so we don't think he had been out on the streets for very long. He is guessed to be about 3 years old which is a great age. He is past all the kitten crazies but still a young cat with many years left. He is very friendly and curious about his surroundings.

My name is Josie, and everyone say that I'm "precious." I assume that's a good thing, right? I was found running loose, lost and frightened. It's a bit overwhelming here, with all of the big dogs barking and strangers coming and going. What I'd like is a nice calm home with a nice soft bed ... and someone who has an available lap from time to time. I've discovered that snuggling in laps is pretty nice! My human friends here at SCAC say that I look like a baby deer … so come meet me in person; ask for # 8-026.

I am absolutely awesome. My name is Mitchell. Since I have some Cattle Dog in me, and since I'm not even a year old yet, I need daily exercise.

My name is Rusty, and I lived in a home until recently. I am young and love to play, and I am good with kids (in case you have any of those). I'd love to meet you and your family to see if we're a good match. I'm only about a year old, a great age for training me to be exactly the kind of companion you want. Let's go to one of the play yards so that you can see what a cool guy I am. I’ll give you your first lesson in how to play fetch; that’s something I’m getting REALLY good at. (Ask for # 7-156.)
