Greyhounds Only

Greyhounds Only

The mission of Greyhounds Only is to place retired racing and at-risk greyhounds into responsible, loving homes, to educate the public about the greyhound breed, to provide access to high-quality medical care, and to collaborate with others who share our common goals.

Greyhounds Only is a not-for-profit greyhound rescue and adoption group based in Northeastern Illinois. We take in retired racing greyhounds from all over the country and find them good homes. Our hounds range in age from 18 months to seniors, and we take in brood, stud, and special needs hounds too. We serve Chicago and the Chicagoland area, the Northeastern corner of Illinois, and the Southeastern corner of Wisconsin. Our hounds are spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated and microchipped, and after being selected spend a week in a foster home before going to their forever homes. All of our hounds are cat-tested and many of our hounds live happily in homes with cats or small dogs.

If you are new to the Greyhound breed, we encourage you to visit our website to learn more about these wonderful dogs and see all of our available hounds. These "45-mph couch potatoes" are gentle, quiet, loving, loyal companions and adapt quickly to their new homes, whether a 1-bedroom apartment in the city or a single-family home in the country. Our calendar of events lists weekly meet n' greet events throughout the Chicagoland area where you can meet adoptable hounds and pets and talk to our volunteers.  If you think that a greyhound is right for you, then you can begin our adoption process by downloading an application, filling it out, and sending it in.
