Chicagoland Dog Rescue
Chicagoland Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit dog rescue organization operated completely through the efforts of unpaid volunteers. Existing without a physical shelter at this time, our dogs are housed at volunteer foster homes or boarded at professional facilities and transported to Saturday adoption events at our partners’ locations such as Petco in Schaumburg and Pet Supplies Plus in Arlington Heights, plus other special events. Our adoption fee ($250-300) cover the dog’s spay or neuter; vaccinations for Rabies, Distemper and Bordatella; general health check including heartworm and fecal tests for parasites; microchipping; plus free Basic Obedience and Socialization Training through our CDR Training Department, a benefit not known to be offered by any other rescue organization.

- Blue
-
Blue is a 7 month old deaf pit bull puppy. Until recently, blue’s parents did not know he was deaf, because he is really smart and pays attention to his owners. Blue is housebroken and loves to go on long walks. He loves playing with his toys, bones, and getting belly rubs. Blue loves being around people and is in need of owners that have the patience to work with an extremely smart but deaf bully. Pit Bulls can be stubborn, yet they respond well to confident owners who know how to establish and enforce rules of expected behavior. Because of public/media prejudice, every American Pit Bull Terrier should be trained through at least basic obedience and always leashed outside of his yard. Every well-behaved Pit Bull seen on the street can help counteract anti-breed sentiment!

- Dakota
-
Dakota is a 5 year old male Catalhoula mix. He loves to be very affectionate and get as much attention as possible. He was an owner give up who went into a shelter where he had only one week to find a new home. Chicagoland Dog Rescue pulled him out and gave him a real chance to find a forever home. Dakota is crate trained, but doesn’t really need to be crated. He loves going for walks. He seems to like the neighborhood kids but he might be a bit much for very small kids due to his enthusiasm. A little additional training will be helpful to fine tune his manners, but CDR will provide that for free. He is very sweet and only seems to want to please others.

- Reba
-
Reba is a Rottweiler mix female, about 4 years old. The AKC Standard describes the Rottweiler as "a calm, confident, and courageous dog with a self-assured aloofness that does not lend itself to immediate and indiscriminate friendships." Typically steadfast, sensible, and serious, the Rottweiler tends to respond quietly and with a wait-and-see attitude to influences in his environment. Therefore, Reba will need strong yet kind leadership. She is currently being boarded at the Alex Brooks Midwest Canine Center and working with a behaviorist to learn good doggie manners. She does well with the other dogs there in doggy day care and is picking up more acceptable behavioral traits. Her new family will need to commit to consistent training and provide mental exercise to keep Reba motivated and well behaved. She does not do well with cats or other small animals.
