Central Illinois Small Animal Rescue
The Central Illinois Small Animal Rescue (CISAR) was formed over 12 years ago using foster homes to house the animals. CISAR was started because of the high euthanasia rates and questionable justifications in use by area agencies that resulted in killing many healthy, adoptable animals.
In 2007 we received our permanent 501(C3) status from Internal Revenue Service. As a not for profit charity we continue to have a tax-free exemption from the State of Illinois.
Our Shelter operation operates in a remodeled 125 year old dairy barn on seven acres. In November of 2008 we began construction of our low cost veterinary services center for the community. This is a major undertaking which will require major financial input from the public and private sector to complete.
Because we receive no Local, State, or Federal funding, our Shelter is only able to exist because of kind and generous people, socially responsible Corporations and other charities who love animals and support CISAR’s No-Kill philosophy so any support we receive from individuals is not only appreciated but is necessary for the fulfillment of our mission.

This guy's name is Buddy. Isn't he a looker! He's about 1 1/2 years old. He's pretty laid back. He hangs around in our cat condos all day and seems quite content. He's ok with other cats even though it might take him a little bit to warm up. He's never met a human he didn't like and even when getting his most recent vet check, which he wasn't happy about, he took it like a champ! A couple of hugs and he was over it. Come out a see Buddy. He'll be happy to show you around.

Hi, I'm Angie a Mountain Curr and shepherd mix! Foster mom and dad brought me to their house from the shelter to work on my social skills. You see, I have been here since I was about 6 weeks old and I am now almost 3 years old so I wasnt sure how I should act with humans so I would just shy away. I have come leaps and bounds and now love to cuddle on the couch and taking table scraps from my foster parents :)
