INFORMATION WAREHOUSE DIRECT ACCESS INSTALLATION
(External Users using IBM DB2 v 7.2)
To remove old CAE (if necessary) and/or install DB2 Run-Time Client ver 7.2
- Ensure that the User's Network ID has Local Administrator access.
- TCP port 50000 MUST be open on your firewall between your computer and our server, (163.191.177.40). To verify that port 50000 is open you can open a command prompt and type telnet
163.191.177.40 50000, if the port is open you will receive a blank telnet box, if it is closed you will receive the following error "Connecting To 163.191.177.40...Could not
open connection to the host, on port 50000: Connect failed."
- Close any applications that you currently have open.
- Click on Start/Run and type ftp://163.191.177.34 and click "OK".
- Right click on the DB2V7 folder, then left click on "Copy". On the drop down list next to the Address line type C:\ , then hit enter.
- Click
on "Edit", then "Paste". After the folder has copied to your local
C: drive you may close your browser by clicking the X in the upper
right-hand corner.
- Click
on Start/Run and type C:\DB2V7\DB2Install.bat and click "OK".
- If removal of old version of CAE is necessary then click "Continue" on DB2 Products Uninstall screen.
- If removal of old version of CAE is necessary then click "OK" on Uninstall Successful screen.
- Press any key to continue when prompted. PC will be rebooted when finished. (***Your screen will appear to be doing nothing, be patient it
make take several minutes before it reboots***). Log back on.
- Go to Start/Run and type C:\DB2V7\DB2Config.bat and click "OK".
- Press any key to continue when prompted.
- If Database Alias and ODBC Name both show DB2PRD then go to step 15.
If ODBC Name shows {Not Registered} click on "Properties", then click checkbox next
to "Register this Database for ODBC". Ensure that "As a system data source" is checked and click "OK".
- Click "OK" on DB2 Message screen stating
that the database list has been successfully updated. The ODBC Name should now have DB2PRD
listed.
- Click "Test". Enter your SAMS
ID and password and hit "OK". Verify that the connection test was
successful. Click "OK". Click "Close".
- Close the
command prompt window by clicking the X in the upper right-hand corner.
To Test
Connectivity:
- Open
Microsoft Access.
- Click "Open" icon
- On "Files of Type" line scroll down
and select "ODBC databases()".
- Under "Machine Data Source" click on DB2PRD then "OK".
- Enter your
SAMS UserID and
password then "OK".
- Click
on WH.Activity
on Link Tables screen then click "OK".
- Click "OK".
- Doubleclick your linked table called WH_ACTIVITY. Your table should display the WH_Activity records.
